Promoter wins libel action against ex-boxing champ (AP)

Former world heavyweight champion Herbie Hide has been ordered to pay $57,720 in libel damages to boxing promoter Frank Warren by London's High Court. In a television interview in July 2008, Hide claimed that Warren had bribed Johnny Nelson to retire and give up his WBO cruiserweight title so that Enzo Maccarinelli, a boxer Warren promoted, would gain it without having to fight him.
